Funding models for the arts?

Just listened to "Today" on BBC R4 in which there was a discussion about "the preferred method of arts funding for this government is through philanthropy - the American model". A not terribly useful discussion followed, but what, I wonder, is this government doing to help people give, to plant the seed of philanthropy which surely is really about valuing the overall good of society over personal wealth?

My organisation - Aune Head Arts -  already receives far more from…

The government's proposed 50% cuts to the feed-in tariff (the financial incentive scheme) for solar panels is likely to significantly slow…

Public and Patient Involvement in Theory and in Practice

My name is Kath Maguire; I have been involved in health research as a lay member of funding panels, as a lay reviewer and as part of a Public Involvement Group in a medical school. As a result I became interested in why different people became involved in health service research, what keeps them interested and what drives them away.

Currently I am studying as a PhD student with the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry and am looking for other Public and Patient representatives working in different roles who are willing to complete a short survey about themselves and the work they do.

If you are: based in England; active in some Public and Patient Involvement role, or have been in the past; and you are interested finding out more or in taking part in this study contact me on:

Telephone:    07791089434

Email:             kath.maguire@pcmd.ac.uk
